KUTTY STORY 18

Make choices that will benefit others as well

Once there was a man who was travelling through a desert. It was 3-4 days and he had run out of supplies. As it was a desert, he couldn't manage any sojourn neither he could find food or even water. The man kept on walking as long as could.
He saw a small hut at a distance, In the first go he thought its just his imagination. As he moved further, he realized, he shouldn't have given the credit to his imagination because there was a hut after all.
The man rushed to the hut and to his great surprise, he saw a hand-pump inside the hut. He was desperate to get some water and so moved the piston as quickly as possible but he got no water and he became more tired and lay on his back. As he lay down he saw a bottle of water hanging from above the hand pump. He grabbed the bottle without wasting any time. Once he had the bottle in his hand he saw a piece of note with it. In the note it was written ' The water in the bottle has to be poured into the hand pump and then pumped again, after you get enough water refill the bottle and hang it back for someone else who might need it in the future.'
The man was confused. He was so thirsty that he wanted to drink the water as he wasn't sure of getting water from the hand pump.
The man thought for some time and he decided to take the risk. He poured the water into the hand pump and moved the piston.  He couldn't get water initially, but in some time, he could hear the sound of water and slowly water started flowing from the tap. The man felt really happy.  He refreshed and drank as much as he wanted and filled some for his return journey as well.
However, he didn't forget to refill the bottle as instructed in the note. He also added 'It works' to the note with the bottle to instill confidence into the next forlorn traveller to follow the instructions. He went his way happily thinking....

Sometimes we should give our decisions a second thought.
Our small effort may be a great favor to someone else.

Keep others in your thoughts and prayers.

2.     Mother's Love It was a hot summer day. There was a chemist along with his assistant doing brisk trade under the mid-noon hot sun. The pharmacist noticed an old woman across the road, staring at the shop for a long time. The shopkeeper suggested to the assistant to take care of the customers in the line and he went to check on the old lady.  The chemist crossed the road and approached her and asked her “why you are standing here alone, do you need any help from me”. The lady said she was fine. She had a son who lives in the city with his wife and three children. He and his family came and visited her every summer but this time he called her up last night and said he is going to a hill station with his family so he will not be visiting her this summer. He might come next summer. Saying this, her wrinkled grey eyes shed tears of pain out of a broken heart.  The shopkeeper was muted for a moment and he had no words for her. The mother held h...

The life each wished for Once there lived two farmers in a village. The farmers were friends and they worked really hard. They, more or less had the same share of land in the village and eventually with time, both of them died in the same period.  After their death both the farmers were in their after life. God asked both the farmers the same question. The first farmer was asked: how was his life and how could have God made it better for him. The farmer was so annoyed and disgraced with all the hardship he had in his life. The farmer said he had no luxury, he and his family barely had anything to enjoy. They struggled to manage each day. God kept quiet and asked the farmer what he wanted to become in his next life. The farmer wished to be someone who is unquestioned and who people gave money to. God blessed him and granted his desire.  God approached the other farmer with the same question. The farmer said he was really glad with the life God had given him. The farmer thanked ...

Strong roots Sangeetha and her husband were staying in a housing colony. Next doors to them lived an old man. Everyone addressed him as grandpa. One day a man who sold plants was in the colony. Sangeetha and the grandpa bought the same plant and planted it in their yard. Sangeetha had her education in agriculture and knew everything about the plant. Sangeetha watered the plant and used the right fertilizers and pesticides for her plant and she was so prompt with her schedule. After days both the plants were easily distinguishable. Sangeetha's plant was so green and flourished beautifully. Grandpa's plant was barely anything.  One evening, thunder and storm rampaged the area, everyone and everything was affected. The whole night heavy wind blew. The next morning grandpa and Sangeetha came out to check their plants. Sangeetha's plant was totally damaged, even the last strand of root was pulled out of the soil by the wind. Grandpa's plant on the other hand was just bent, n...
