Strong roots
Sangeetha and her husband were staying in a housing colony. Next doors to them lived an old man. Everyone addressed him as grandpa. One day a man who sold plants was in the colony. Sangeetha and the grandpa bought the same plant and planted it in their yard. Sangeetha had her education in agriculture and knew everything about the plant. Sangeetha watered the plant and used the right fertilizers and pesticides for her plant and she was so prompt with her schedule. After days both the plants were easily distinguishable. Sangeetha's plant was so green and flourished beautifully. Grandpa's plant was barely anything.
One evening, thunder and storm rampaged the area, everyone and everything was affected. The whole night heavy wind blew. The next morning grandpa and Sangeetha came out to check their plants. Sangeetha's plant was totally damaged, even the last strand of root was pulled out of the soil by the wind. Grandpa's plant on the other hand was just bent, no major damage at all. Sangeetha asked how her plant was destroyed and Grandpa's plant alright.
The elderly shared with her his wisdom. The grandpa told Sangeetha that her plant got everything without any struggle so its roots weren't strong. Grandpa didn't give everything to his plant but he gave the plant only what is essential. So the plant has to struggle and spread its roots to get more minerals and water. So with time Sangeetha's plant flourished with no strong roots and Grandpa's plant has flourished with less growth above the ground but with strong roots underneath.
This is not just the case with plants, it is the same with our children. The children these days are so pampered by their parents that they don't know how to deal with any situation on their own. The children cannot really come out of their comfort zone. They rely too much on their parents for everything. The children grow up to teens and turn youngsters fail drastically to prove themselves without help from their parents. They failed to upfront any kind of hardship. The children should know the struggle and pain so that they grew strong from the inside.
A strong willed mind outpowers the mere materialistic strength aid our children to be strong from the inside
