The bond
Sudhama and Lord Srikrishna were great friends. Both of them were good friends since their days at Sandeepani Saints Ashram as disciples. The students were supposed to follow the instructions by the Saint also they were all supposed to help the master's wife by collecting wood for household purposes. The boys were in charge for collecting flowers for Pooja and wood for cooking.
One day it was ekadashi (the day for fasting) the wife of the master had kept two hands full of dry fruits for Sudhama and Lord Srikrishna as they had to go to the forest. Since it was the day of fasting the students were not allowed to go to the street seeking food from the villagers. However another sage walked into Sandeepani's ashram and asked for food. Sandeepani's wife politely replied they have not cooked anything as it is ekadashi and there is no food in her kitchen to spare for the sage. The sage meditated for a moment and with his inner eye he could see the two hand full of dry fruits kept in the kitchen and he became angry. The sage cursed that whoever is going to eat it will struggle and suffer. Sudhama was witnessing everything from a tree nearby.
After sometime Lord Krishna and Sudhama were given the dry fruits and they were sent to the forest for firewood. Sudhama said he will keep the dry fruits for Krishna as well and he will share them once they are at their destination. Krishna agreed. Both the boys reached the forest and Krishna asked for his share of dry fruits. Sudhama didn't want any suffering in his friend's life. Sudhama didn't give Krishna his share instead, he ran away with the entire dryfruits and climbed up a tree while he ate his share he managed to spill Krishna's share of dry fruits on the ground. Krishna asked Sudhama what he did! Sudhama excused himself that he was tired and he was hungry; he was trying to pull out a prank.
The curse of the sage left Sudama in poverty and under great suffering and Krishna the king of Dwaraka was never intimated about anything even with a word by Sudhama. Finally one day Sudhama visits Krishna Sudhama didn't complain to his friend about anything but Krishna could understand his friend and read his suffering. Sudhama left his family in a wrecked hut but he returned to a palace. Lord Krishna blessed him with everything he could dream of.
God's blessing will shower upon us; we need not to ask or demand for it
We just have to be good with deeds.
