The Soldier
Navneet Vats was a soldier who loved his family and country equally. Navneet met his soulmate when he attended a function at a friend's place in the year 1994. Naveneet and Shivani Singh felt a connection at their very first sight. They did not talk to each other, but their eyes spoke a lot in the two and a half hours they spent there. They were not able to meet each other for a couple of months. Shivani and Navneet met each other in another function hosted by another mutual friend. Within the next 4 months they met a couple of times with their common friends. Navneet and Shivani met each other without any friends twice. They realized they have a special connection. When Naveent came to his hometown for the next vacation, he stopped by Shivani's and proposed to her. Navneet had become a Major in the Indian Army. by 1998 they tied the knot. The couple had a happy life. Their first born, Inayath was a blessing for the couple. They were living a dream come true life. Navneet had his posting in Srinagar.
It was on 20th November. Telecom building in Srinagar was attacked by terrorists and even a couple of them managed to hide within. Navneet was ordered to take care of the situation. Navneet along with 11 other soldiers were dispatched to the scene. Navneet did not hold back on his duty or responsibility, neither did he have second thoughts about anything else. He proceeded without any hesitation and managed to bring down 5 from the terrorist troop at the cost of his own life. There was no mistake.
Navneet exhaled his last breath for the sake of our nation. Shivani's heart was broken into million pieces when the army office broke the news to her. Shivani could not control her emotion, but quickly she remembered Navneets words 'You are wife of a soldier. You must be willing to face anything, so, remain strong'.
Shivani gathered her bits and pieces and stood up. Shivani now teaches in the Army public school. She wants the young buds to be proud soldiers for the nation.
Each soldier at the border is willing to die for our nation, die for us
We owe them the peaceful life we enjoy in our comforts
